TOX QUESTIONS
What is botox for? Indicated for: -Patients between 18-65 yrs of age -Older patients with increased skin laxity
Who is botox not for? -Patients with neurological disorders such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), myasthenia gravis. -Patients with multiple, severe allergies -Patients currently receiving aminoglycoside antibiotics. -To be used cautiously in patients taking anticholinergic drugs -Patients pregnant or breast feeding -Any patient with a history of allergic reaction to toxin -Patient’s with active infection in area of treatment -Dysport is contraindicated in patients with true cow’s milk protein allergy.
Does it hurt? Generally speaking, tox injections are very well tolerated with minimal pain experienced by the patient.
How long will tox last? Typically, tox results lasts 3-4 months. Dosing equals duration. However, other factors like your basal metabolic rate can affect the duration.
What are the common side effects of tox? -Bruising -Headache -Discomfort at the injection site -Lid ptosis -Brow drop -Nausea/flu-like symptoms -Unwanted changes in expression -Distant spread of product (unlikely with cosmetic use)
How many units will I need? Dosing equals duration. Per manufacturers recommendations patients should receive 20 units in the frontalis (forehead), 20 units in the glabellar complex (between brows, aka 11’s), and 24 units in orbicularis oculi (crow’s feet). However, everyone is different, some may need more and some may need less dependent on their desired results. Treatment is a prescribed dosage based on multiple factors including muscle strength, size, anatomy, static lines present. The recommended dose is individualized and determined by the practitioner, not the patient, as underdosing will lead to suboptimal results and the possibility of tox resistance over time. Will I bruise? You may bruise. Anytime you are introducing a needle into the skin and down to the muscle you run the risk of bruising.
When will I notice a difference? Botox/Dysport/Xeomin/Juveau will start to work in 2-7 days and peak in about 2 weeks. Please note, if additional product is needed, it will not be injected until 14 days after your initial injection.
FILLER QUESTIONS
Who are dermal fillers for? -Adults over 21 who are physically healthy with age related volume loss and/or decrease visible signs of agin. -Non-smoker -Positive outlook and realistic goals in mind for the improvement of your appearance -Are committed to maintaining good skin health
What are the common side effects of filler? -Bruising -Redness -Swelling -Pain -Tenderness -Itching -Rash -Difficulty performing activities (observed in patients receiving filler to back of hand) -Vascular occlusion which can lead to skin necrosis, stroke or blindness.
Does getting filler hurt? You may experience some discomfort getting fillers, but overall, it is less painful than you might think. Most fillers include lidocaine in their formulation to help decrease any discomfort. Depending on area being treated, topically numbing can be used. We also offer topical numbing and dental blocks for lip filler.
Who is filler not good for? Contraindicated in patients: -Severe allergies or history of any anaphylaxis -Blood vessel implantation -Anatomical spaces other than mid reticular /papillary dermis -Pregnant or breastfeeding -Taking blood thinners -With active infection to treatment area -Lidocaine allergy -Keloid scarring -Skin conditions -Autoimmune diseases
How many syringes will I need? Generally, patients will need multiple syringes of filler for optimal results. Treatment is a prescribed dosage based on multiple factors including areas desired for treatment, age, individual anatomy. The recommended dose is individualized and determined by the practitioner, not the patient. The best way to determine the amount of filler needed is to book a consultation.
How long does filler last? Duration of filler varies based on many factors including type of filler used, area of the face being treated, particle size, cross-linking and concentration of hyaluronic acid, amount of filler used and individual patient metabolism.
When will I notice a difference? You will likely notice an immediate difference in the appearance of the treated area. However, full results will be appreciated in 2-4 weeks after swelling has subsided.
KYBELLA QUESTIONS
What is kybella for? Indicated for: -Individuals over the age of 18 with moderate to severe sub-mental fat. -Older patients with increased skin laxity
Who is kybella not for? Contraindicated in patients: -Pregnant or nursing -Allergic to any of the ingredients -With an active infection to the treatment area -Have or have had difficulty swallowing -Have had or plan to have surgery on your face, neck or chin
Does it hurt? Generally speaking, tox injections are very well tolerated with minimal pain experienced by the patient.
How long will kybella last? Kybella/PCDC treatments are permanent as the medication causes permanent fat cell destruction.
What are the possible side effects? -Nerve injury to the jaw which can cause an uneven smile or facial muscle weakness. -Difficulty swallowing -Injection site problems including hematoma, bruising, damage to an artery or vein, skin ulceration, damage and tissue cell-death around injection site. Common side effects include: Swelling, pain, numbness, redness, itching, skin tightness, and areas of hardness in the treatment areas.
How many treatments will I need? Individual treatments vary depending upon desired results. At minimum you will need 2 treatments to notice significant results and may need up to 6 treatments spaced 1 month apart to achieve desired results.
Does it hurt? You may experience some discomfort with Kybella/PCDC injections; however, topical numbing is applied. You may also use ice packs topically in addition to over-the-counter analgesics (Tylenol and Motrin) for discomfort.
When will I notice a difference? You will begin to notice a difference after full resolution of swelling in approximately 4-6 weeks and will notice full effects upon completion of all treatments recommended.
